Patterns get you through

Yesterday was rough. Fasting, plus biking 25 miles (even at a slow pace), was pretty tough. Then my mind decided to keep thinking until midnight.

Five-thirty came quick. And so did my thoughts: Just snooze it. Sleep another hour. You deserve it. Heck, you need it.

But I’ve been getting up at the same time every day for so long (no changing wake-up times on weekends) that going back to sleep wasn’t an option.

And that’s good.

Today will be hard. I’m certain of that. But I can catch a quick nap if I need to. Fifteen minutes will be enough when the going gets rough.

I’ll definitely be to bed early tonight.
