Life brings changes

It’s amazing to think I’ve spent significant time since graduating from BYU focused on pursuing a dream. From the time I left high school, I wanted to teach. I wanted to have the influence on young minds that could mold and change their futures for greater good.

However, I reached the realization just over a week ago that this will not be my long-term calling in life.

There are a few things that drive me personally that are not available within the public education system.

So I’ve engaged in a job hunt to find a job that challenges me intellectually each day, provides better compensation that public education does, and allows me to learn on a consistent basis.

I love my students. They make every day worthwhile and provide so much excitement in my life. However, the joy I find in teaching them and guiding their lives does not overcome my need for learning and freedom in a career.

I wish the best to my students and colleagues as I depart. I gained much from my associations with them.

I look forward with faith that my next step will be a grand adventure.
